Chinese Army confirms its commanding officer was killed in Galwan clashes during Commander level meeting: Sources

New Delhi: People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China has finally opened up to the fact that its commanding officer was among those killed in the Galwan valley clashes in Ladakh region last week, according to sources.

This is the first time since the incident that Chinese Army has confirmed about casualty one their side. This information has to light during the commander lever talks between the two sides at Moldo on the Chinese side of Chushul.

It may be noted that India had changed the rules of engagement along the LAC after the dangerous clash with China. Also the rules of engagement had been change by the commanders have now been given the powers allowing them the use of firearms under extraordinary circumstances.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the meeting with the CDS and three service chiefs also said that the forces have been given full freedom to deal with any form of Chinese aggression along the LAC.

Meanwhile, Indian Forces have been put up on high alert and have been asked to maintain a strict vigil on the Chinese activities around the border, airspace and important sea lanes.

It may be recalled that Indian Army lost 20 brave men, including a Colonel, during the hand-to-hand combat with Chinese troops at Galwan Valley on the intervening night of June 15 and 16. The clash took place on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control.
