India and China agree to disengage from friction points in eastern Ladakh: Sources

Leh: The commander level talks between the Indian and Chinese Army have arrived at a mutual consensus to "disengage" from all friction points in eastern Ladakh sector after the marathon meeting of top military commanders of the two sides on Monday.

"There was a mutual consensus to disengage. Modalities for disengagement from all friction areas in Eastern Ladakh were discussed and will be taken forward by both the sides". Sources revealed 

The Corps Commander level talks between India and China on 22 June 2020 were held at Moldo in a cordial, positive and constructive atmosphere.

Meeting between Army’s 14 Corps Commander Lt Gen Harinder Singh & his Chinese counterpart went for over 10 hours on Monday. It had started around 11:30 AM at Moldo on Chinese side of LAC. 

Also, Indian Forces have been put up on high alert and have been asked to maintain a strict vigil on the Chinese activities around the border, airspace and important sea lanes.

It may be recalled that Indian Army lost 20 brave men, including a Colonel, during the hand-to-hand combat with Chinese troops at Galwan Valley on the intervening night of June 15 and 16. The clash took place on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control
